Agnus Castus is a shrubby plant that is native to the Mediterranean and Central Asia. The plant is also known as chaste tree or monk's pepper and was used by monks in the Middle Ages to better adhere to the vow of chastity.

Nowadays, the herb is often used by women.

Important ingredients of Agnus Castus are iridoid glycosides, diterpenes, flavonoids, alkaloids and essential oils.
