Vitakruid Vitamin K & D baby drops 10ml
Recommended by the Health Council and midwives
Immediately after birth, all infants are given 1,000 mcg of vitamin K. During the first 3 months, babies do not yet have the right intestinal bacteria to produce vitamin K themselves.
The same principle applies to vitamin D. Newborn babies are not yet able to obtain sufficient vitamin D from their diet or sunlight. This is why the Health Council recommends additional supplementation with both vitamin D and K.
When and how much?
For vitamin D, the general advice is to give children 10 mcg daily up to the age of 4. The dose of vitamin K that the baby receives from the midwife after birth is good for the first week. An additional 150 mcg of vitamin K is therefore recommended every day from day 8 to the end of month 4.
Vitamin D
The sunshine vitamin is generally known as important for health, but this is even more true for young children. It is precisely during the developmental phase that a child needs vitamin D.
Vitamin K
Vitamin K2 is found in food of animal origin such as cheese and cottage cheese, but also in fermented natto. Babies often have low vitamin K levels at birth. And while this vitamin is essential for them.
K1 & K2
In addition, our product contains vitamin K1 and vitamin K2. And that is special, because you mainly find vitamin K1 in most foods and supplements. A shame, because both have a specific function for the baby.
Vitamin D3 in the correct dosage for up to 4 years
The Health Council recommends giving children up to 4 years of age 10 mcg of vitamin D per day. However, the quality of the vitamin D form can vary considerably. The sunshine vitamin has two forms.
Vitamin D3 is the best form
One is ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) and is mainly found in mushrooms. The second form is cholecalciferol (vitamin D3); this is the form that people (and animals) produce themselves under the influence of the sun. The latter is the most bioavailable form and is therefore best absorbed by our body. That is why this is also the form we have included in our Vitamin K & D Baby.
Only one pack needed for the first year!
In the combination package of Vitamin K & D Baby you will find both a bottle of vitamin D3 and a bottle of vitamin K, especially for newborns. This is ideal, because the 10 ml Baby D bottle will last you almost a year! Thanks to the contents of Baby K, you also have everything you need for the first 4 months.
